Got the freewheel remover yesterday and removed it and the pie plate fairly easily. Took the opportunity to clean out the hub while I was at it. Shimano Free Wheel TA it says on it. Compared it to a compact threaded free wheel I have (6 speed vs the 5 speed that came on the bike) but the weight is about the same and I decided for a touring bike I need the lower gears.
